Founder/ Board Member
Sandra is the founder of YenMa Foundation. With a life-long passion for the health, education and wellbeing of children, she started this foundation with a goal of making kids happy and enjoy their childhood. For sustainability, she involves their parents in the process and supports them with tailored resources needed to care for their children. She also organizes social events for children that promotes positive mental health and social development.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in health science from the University of Missouri, she applied her knowledge of public health to draw out projects that will improve the health of children. This includes personal hygiene classes in the Volta Region of Ghana. Having witness so many children on the streets of Accra being forced into child labor, she decided to enroll as many children as possible in schools to eliminate child labor in Ghana.
During her masters program, she worked as a graduate student career specialist for the University of Missouri Career Center. She assisted students with resume writing, cover letters, interview preps, strengths developments and taught a career exploration class. She enjoyed being a resource to students and hopes to transfer all her skills and resources to the children of this foundation. She also worked with the Missouri Telehealth Network as a research assistant and supported her team with data collection and analysis.
She graduated with a master’s degree in health management and hopes to apply her skills to manage and expand the foundation. Subsequent to graduation, she will pursue a doctorate degree in health services research at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, to advise policy makers on program evaluations and implementations for children.
When she is not working on research projects, she enjoys watching documentaries, singing and dancing to African tunes as well as trying new recipes. You may also find her watching cute baby videos!
